    Remembrance Day

As Remembrance Day approaches on the 11th of November, towns and villages across Cornwall come together to honour those who have served and the sacrifices made. Traditional services are held at war memorials and town squares throughout the county, where communities gather for a moment of silence, wreath-laying ceremonies, and organised parades. Larger towns like Truro, Falmouth, and Penzance host commemorative events, but many smaller villages also observe the day in their own way, offering quiet moments of reflection.

Whether you attend a formal service or a small gathering, Remembrance Day in Cornwall is a time to reflect, pay respects, and come together as a community. Check with your local town council or community website for details on Remembrance Day events near you.

    Winter Walks

Wrap up well and brave the outside with a walk along the shore and nine times out of ten it’ll just be you, the sea and the sky. On the south coast’s misty inlets and river estuaries, walk along quaint villages tucked along the water's edge. On the north coast, walk along the dramatic beaches with the winter swell crashing into shore.

And to warm up, there’s nothing better than a steaming mug of hot chocolate in a beachside café or a pint in a friendly pub with a roaring fire and more than hearty food - just the thing to finish off a trek on the moor or a jaunt along the coast path.

    Sunday Roast season

As autumn settles in, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a hearty Sunday roast after a crisp day exploring Cornwall’s countryside or coastline. The Lost Gardens of Heligan serves hearty roasts with produce straight from their gardens, while Cribbs in Falmouth puts a Caribbean spin on the traditional roast, adding bold flavours and a hint of warmth. For a roast with a sea view, The Gurnard’s Head near Zennor offers a cosy atmosphere and plates piled high with locally-sourced meats and vegetables. At Potager Café, you’ll find plant-based roasts served in a cosy, converted greenhouse café, surrounded by lush greenery – a perfect settling for a relaxed Sunday meal.
