Escape Surf School

Newquay’s Specialist Surf School: offers coaching at all levels, from beginners to advanced. We are the only Surf School in the area that offers daily intermediate lessons, as well as beginners and improver lessons.

Escape Surf School, in the surfing town of Newquay, has been teaching people to surf for over 18 years. Our base on the Newquay Cliff Top, overlooking the spectacular Towan Beach and Newquay Bay, is fully equipped with showers, changing rooms and bar & restaurant.

Our head coach & founder Mike Young has been teaching people to surf for over 20 years and he has surfed professionally for 35 years, all around the world including Europe, South Africa and Australia.

All our the Escape Coaching Team are experienced and qualified, all holding ISA level 1 or 2 surf coach awards. They are all RNLI qualified lifeguards, so you can be sure you'll be in safe hands

The whole team are dedicated to ensuring you have the best possible time learning to surf with us. This is achieved by our innovative teaching methods for beginners which involves holding the tail of the board, whilst the surfer gets to their feet. This helps stabilise the board until the surfer is standing, then they release, and you enjoy the amazing feeling of riding the surf! Guaranteed results!

If you already surf and are looking to improve your technique, remove bad habits or progress from the white water, then intermediate and advanced surf coaching is our specialism; we are the only surf school in Newquay to hold daily "outback" surf lessons, for our more experienced surf students.

We teach primarily on Towan beach, which because of its topography and the direction it faces, means it’s an ideal location to progress your surfing.

We can cater for individuals, small family groups & groups of friends, as well as large groups, including schools and colleges, corporate, military and hens or stags! Surf Lesson Prices

• All our lessons are 2 hours long and the prices include all equipment (board, wetsuit, boots, gloves) • The lessons will always be tailored to your current ability and aim to progress you to the next level • You must be 8 years old or above and be able to swim 50 metres • Discounts are available for group bookings – just ask!
