Gone to Sea....
Most harbours around Cornwall offer sightseeing trips out to sea. It gives you a chance to see the coast from an entirely different perspective and you may even get to see some of our wonderful marine life, such as dolphins and seals.
The best way to do this is by kayak or canoe, quietly skimming over the waves, exploring inaccessible coves and sometimes venturing into seacaves. All around Cornwall from Looe to the Lizard and around to St Agnes, you can discover our wonderful watery world from a foot or so above it. If you'd prefer a guided kayak adventure, why not join Koru Kayaking on one of their trips around St Agnes, or along the Helford.
If you prefer to stay dry, then it might be best to stick to one of our bigger boats. Cormorant Cruising offer short trips out of the pretty village of Mousehole in west Cornwall. The children especially love going around Mousehole Island where they can see the seals sunning themselves on the rocks. For longer trips, specifically aimed at those who want to see the wildlife around the Cornish coast, AK Wildlife Cruises operate out of Falmouth. Captain Keith and his crew are extremely knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and endorsed by the Seawatch foundation as a recommended boat operator with WiSe and The Whale And Dolphin Conservation Society, causing minimal impact to the environment.
There’s always a desire to see creatures like dolphins and seals close up, but just remember they can get stressed if you get too close. We like to think that those operators featured here will keep their distance, so don’t be too disappointed if your boatman stays a little way away. He's being responsible, as we all should be, after all the sea is their home, not ours.
