Charles Causley Trust

The Charles Causley Trust aims to keep alive the memory of the late Charles Causley, to raise the profile and appreciation of his work, and to promote writing and the other arts - especially (but not exclusively) in and around the community in which he lived, and the wider South West region of England.

Charles Causley (1917-2003) is acknowledged as one of the finest of all 20th-century English poets. His reputation was worldwide, earning him many awards. Since his death, his reputation and impact continues to grow. You can find more about Causley’s life and work elsewhere on this site.

The Trust was founded shortly after he died by some of his friends and supporters and has evolved and grown significantly, since then. We work locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, as both a registered charity and a limited company.

In 2007, the Trust acquired Cyprus Well, Causley’s former Launceston home. Now a centre promoting new literature and arts activity, especially in the community and region where he lived, to celebrate his life and writing, its continued preservation and development for future generations is a major priority.

Our projects and Cyprus Well residencies, as well as other activities, are run with the very welcome and generous support of Arts Council England, Cornwall Council and Launceston Town Council, amongst others.
