National Trust Botallack
One of Cornwall’s most iconic places, and a location for the filming of BBC’s Poldark. The famous Crowns engine houses of Botallack Mine cling dramatically to the foot of the cliffs. A good path descends down to them though only the higher can be explored. Do not try to reach the lower engine house or go further around the cliff as it is very unsafe due to landslips.
Botallack is owned and cared for by the National Trust and it is thanks to its members, volunteers and donors that places like this are able to be looked after for everyone to enjoy nature, beauty and history.
Parking located near the Count House.
The Crowns Iconic 19th-century engine houses, perched on a cliff on the Tin Coast. Part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
Industrial ruins Remains of the mining past stretch across the landscape. Including chimney stacks, engine houses and the arsenic labyrinth.
Count House Café, Botallack The café (not National Trust) is situated in the Botallack Count House Workshop off the South West Coast Path, with ocean views. Serving hot and cold drinks, cakes and tasty treats.
The Count House A 19th-century mine office that has served many purposes, including as a folk club in the 1960s. Now houses the café and visitor information.
South West Coast Path The path stretches for miles along the cliff tops of the wild Tin Coast. Coastal heathland and panoramic views. East leads towards Levant Mine, whilst heading west takes you past Poldark's 'Wheal Leisure' and onto Cape Cornwall.
