Near Bude on the North Cornwall coast, these two lakes offer a variety of activities including watersports, angling, walking and relaxing.
Upper Tamar
Our Activity Centre at Upper Tamar offers kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing for individuals, families and groups. Visitors can hire equipment or launch their own craft.
The peaceful campsite is an ideal base for exploring North Cornwall and North Devon and is perfect for families, groups and couples.
The Tamar Lake Café overlooking the lake offers a variety of light lunches, cakes and beverages. A visit to the new play area is a must for your little adventurers. There is also a popular round lake walk and cycle trail, which is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, takes about one hour.
Coarse anglers will also enjoy this attractive lake - see website for more details www.swlakestrust.org.uk.
For those who want to extend their stay, Tamar also boasts a fantastic lakeside campsite, ideal for families and watersports fanatics alike. With 24 pitches and a wooden glamping pod, modern showers, toilets and wash-up facilities and stunning and unrivalled views across the lake, this site is a real gem.
Lower Tamar
At Lower Tamar you will find a much smaller lake with easy going footpaths. The Lower Lake is predominantly managed as a nature reserve as it is popular with many wildfowl. There is a bird hide open to all and several picnic tables.
Both lakes have their own car parks and linking footpaths creating longer walks. The Bude Aqueduct Walk starts and finishes at Lower Tamar Lake for which a trail leaflet is available from the café.
