    Spread Love, Not Litter

This Valentine’s weekend, Cornwall Wildlife Trust is calling on local communities to show their beaches some love by taking part in a beach clean near them. Love Your Beach weekend returns from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th February 2025, offering everyone the chance to protect Cornwall’s stunning shores while enjoying time in nature, the best kind of love to celebrate this Valentine’s Day.

Since its launch in 2018, Love Your Beach has become a key event in Cornwall’s conservation calendar, bringing together hundreds of volunteers each year to tackle marine litter and care for the county’s coastline. The weekend offers the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to take action for their local environment, even during the winter months.

The beach cleans are coordinated by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and run by the Your Shore Network of associated marine conservation groups, with events arranged across the county. By taking part, volunteers help to remove harmful plastics and debris, take action as part of a group, and ensure that Cornwall’s coastal wildlife and marine ecosystems remain protected.

The events are free and open to everyone. Whether joining an organised beach clean or simply collecting litter on a solo coastal walk, every small action adds up. Participants are also encouraged to create a heart shape using found materials, snap a picture, and share it on social media tagging @yourshorenetwork and using #SpreadLoveNotLitter and #LoveYourBeach.

A special highlight this year is the Silent Disco Beach Clean in St Ives Harbour, a fun and unique way to take climate action while enjoying music and movement along the shore.
