Gorran Haven Beach
Gorran Haven beach is a small sandy beach at the edge of the quaint coastal village south of Mevagissey on the edge of St Austell Bay. It's partially sheltered by its historic stone quay, making it’s crystal clear waters a favourite local spot for swimming and kayaking.
This east-facing hideaway and historic village feels untouched, its old centre, with its cluster of fishermen’s cottages, drops down to the beach and harbour. Off the coast sit the Gwineas, fifteen rocks that are a haven for seals and cormorants, whilst dolphins are often seen swimming near them. There’s even an annual swim, where locals make the arduous 3.8km journey out and around the rocks and back to the beach.
Nearby, The Dodman headland, with its Iron Age hillfort is well worth exploring.
This beach is dog friendly, however they must be kept on leads.
