Porth Joke Beach

Porth Joke Beach, known locally as ‘Polly Joke’ is an archetypal Cornish bay of wild rocky outcrops, , a sandy beach, undulating headlands, turquoise sea, and craggy cliff-faces.

This small but beautiful north-west facing cove is owned and cared for by the National Trust and is a walk away from any parking, attracting only the keenest of beachgoers and explorers.

Walking the South West Coast Path is a popular pastime amongst these bays that boast a feeling of total remoteness that entices you to explore every inlet for fear of missing out on the most beautiful views.

Originally the bay was called ‘Pol Lejouack,’ meaning ‘Jackdaw Cove’ supposedly sounding a little like “Polly Joke.”
