Readymoney Cove Beach
Readymoney Cove is a charming south-east facing sandy beach to the south of the harbour town of Fowey. It is sheltered by cliffs close to the mouth of the river Fowey and bounded, on one side, by the medieval town of Fowey and, on the other by St Catherine's Castle.
The sheltered little cove offers views across the Fowey Estuary to Polruan Hill and the castle ruins, and up to the 16th century ruins of St Catherine's Castle, now an English Heritage property, it was as a defence by Henry VIII.
Today, Fowey, just a stroll away from the beach, is a bustling but small port town, popular within the sailing community and famed as being the home of English author Daphne du Maurier, who once lived behind the beach.
Please note: Dogs are welcome on this beach except between July 1st and August 31st (10am-6pm) when a seasonal dog ban is in place. (2023)
There's a small cafe/shop and toilets.
