Gardenia Cottage Cornwall

Welcome to Gardenia Cottage Cornwall

Gardenia is a comfortable, modern cottage in a peaceful, rural location, yet only there are from the coast road from Wadebridge to Tintagel. It is well-equipped and easy to manage, with central heating and log burner to ensure a cosy feel in cooler weather. It is fully compliant with the 2023 fire regulations requiring a new smoke alarm system and new fire resistant internal doors.

This is a perfect place to unwind from a busy lifestyle, but has super-fast WiFi should you need it. The smart TV has added TNT and SKY sports and NETFLIX Online grocery shopping is accessible, but the local independent shops in Rock are worth exploring, including a superb butcher, baker and fishmonger, as well as a well-stocked SPAR supermarket with locally grown vegetables in season.

If you prefer ready meal treats, there are two local providers and an excellent fish and chip shop and independent pizzeria.

    A great bolthole...

We are a retired couple, living in Surrey, and in 2015 we found Gardenia Cottage would provide everything that we were looking for in a holiday house. We were pleased to have found a designated holiday let, which was not available as a permanent residence, so not affecting local buyers. We have never regretted it, and have kept abreast of required improvements, including the 2023 fire safety regulations. Domestic improvements include new flooring, a new boiler, super fast internet and WiFi, EV charger and Smart TV, new white goods in the utility room and a king size bed in the en-suite master bedroom.

The second bedroom is a twin room, with space for a travel cot (provided), and the third is a bunk room. There is a family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. A useful airing cupboard on the landing is a great place for drying. Downstairs, the utility room has the central heating controls, a washing machine and tumble drier. The rest of the ground floor is open plan, with a sitting area at the front and a log-burner, and a dining area and adjacent kitchen at the back, with double doors out to the patio and garden.

Gardenia is a fantastic bolt hole in all seasons. In 2024 we have decided to tackle the cost of living crisis and have considerable reduced our rent throughout the year and into 2025. We have a lot of returning guests, who say that the cottage and its location are ideal for their needs.

We have an excellent cleaning company, and linen and towels and provided, though, understandably, not for the beach.

Absolutely fantastic holiday cottage. It had everything we could have wished for. Lovely fenced garden ideal for the dog with lovely views. Very clean and well equipped. Great coms with the owners. Within easy reach of local town. Highly recommend

    A home from home...

Gardenia is less that 4 miles from the popular beaches north of the Camel Estuary at Rock, Daymer Bay and Polzeath, which are all linked by the coastal path. Rock is a sailing centre, with a water-sports facility offering lessons for all the family, and a pedestrian ferry to Padstow. Daymer Bay is more of a family beach, with access to the quaint St Enodoc's Church and Brae Hill, affording superb coastal views. Polzeath is a popular surfing centre, with RNLI lifeguards at holiday times.

Being situated just off the coast road, other places are very accessible: To the north, Port Isaac, of 'Doc Martin' and 'Fisherman's Friends' fame, Port Gaverne for coasteering, Trebarwith Strand, Tintagel and Boscastle also offer interesting trips. To the south, Wadebridge is a vibrant market town, and one of the gateways to the Camel Trail, offering bike hire. Padstow, with its restaurants, shops and boat trips and the beaches further south are lovely holiday destinations. If you wish to explore the rest of Cornwall, the main road network can be picked up at Wadebridge.

The garden is enclosed for children and dogs, with a charcoal barbecue and picnic table. There is rear access to a meadow and there are nearby private woodlands. Recyclable waste is collected from the wheelie bin outside the cottage, and all other refuse goes in the communal bin store in the courtyard. Just up the road before reaching the coast road is 'Camel Fish' with crab and lobster for sale in season. Cornwall is well known for its chefs and restaurants, and the local area is famous for Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ainsworth establishments.

The 'bespoke Holiday Guide in the cottage has more details of pubs and restaurants in the area. Visitors to the cottage really need a car to get around, but there is a bus route on the coast road between Wadebridge and Camelford, detouring to all the villages, and it can be accessed at our junction opposite Keiro Lane.We have had at least one couple who came by train and bus with their dog, and had a great time!
